April Roundup: Smoke & Thunder Teaser, Concierge, OST Vol. 2, & more!



Howdy folks, can you believe it’s already the end of April, and as such, we are starting our second rootin-tootin month of Spring? We’re also a third of the way done with 2021! Time really does fly when you’re having fun and this month–packed with sales, campaigns, events, updates, and awards–was undoubtedly a flash here at the Cloudhead Games studio.


Oculus Updates

This month saw Pistol Whip participating in some sweet campaigns and events with Oculus, starting with Oculus inviting us to participate in the first-ever Oculus Gaming Showcase, a celebration of how far VR has come and where it’s going, which took place on April 21. Pistol Whip opened the showcase with the premiere of the teaser for Smoke & Thunder, our second cinematic campaign coming Summer 2021. While we talked a bit about what players can expect from our next campaign–new scenes, mechanics, weapons, and more–last month at the GDC Showcase, this premiere revealed the new title as well as confirmed the genre. Those of you who guessed we were going west were right.





We also discussed a few more details about The Concierge system, which will unlock total customization for Pistol Whip players and release alongside “Smoke & Thunder.” However, this is just scratching the surface, and more info is coming soon:


“Whether you prefer bottomless burst pistols or dodging through levels as a no-ammo pacifist, seemingly endless combinations of weapons and modifiers for every level will allow you to truly hone your play style. Compete in the ever-changing featured styles with multi-platform leaderboards, or dive in and build your own. The Concierge always has what you need.“


Next up, Facebook featured Pistol Whip this stealthy campaign highlighting how even the most unsuspecting person can become an action hero and live the unbelievable.



Pistol Whip OST Vol. 2 out now!

As if Smoke & Thunder and The Concierge weren’t enough for the Pistol Whip team. April also saw the release of the highly-requested, highly-anticipated Pistol Whip Official Soundtrack Vol. 2 on Steam.

Featuring music from Magic Sword and Seeking Blue, along with artists from Kannibalen Records, including HVDES, Black Tiger Sex Machine; and more… volume two contains all five post-launch tracks as well as all tracks from Pistol Whip’s first cinematic campaign, “2089.” It also includes both original and exclusive Pistol Whip mixes.


 

Pistol Whip an honoree at the Webby Awards

We are delighted that Pistol Whip is an honoree in the 25th Annual Webby Awards in the category of Technical Achievement for Games. It is truly inspiring to be among such leaders and innovators both inside VR and out. Congratulations to the other honorees, and best of luck to all the nominees!
